Last weekend we had some very special guests back at Chica Brava, the ladies of Camp Bella 2014! The girls came down to spend Saturday with us for an adventure on the high seas with San Juan’s finest boat tour, the Catamaran “Must Be Crazy”.

Ever since we wrapped up Camp Bella that first week in October of last year, we were trying to figure out a way to have the girls down again. Due to bad weather in October we cancelled our catamaran trip, so found a way to make it happen for the girls in this first month of 2015. It was a wonderful day of sun, laughter, and lots of time in the salt water.

The lovely crew of the ‘Must Be Crazy’ donates a trip to Camp Bella every year, and we are so grateful as it’s always a highlight! This time around was no different. We sailed out of the bay at about 11 am, with fair seas and following winds. After anchoring at Playa Blanca we spent nearly two hours playing in the ocean, collecting seashells, snorkeling and munching on snacks. It was truly incredible to see these chicas in the ocean, with huge grins and salty joy, swimming around with ease. At the beginning of Camp Bella the majority of the group were unfamiliar with the ocean, with little to no swimming experience.

But there they were, anchored at an abandoned beach, swimming around like mermaids that they truly are. As we sailed back to San Juan we discussed the wind, how it powers the sails, and other details of sailing. The girls were fascinated, and as we caught some speed from nature’s power they got pretty excited too!

We arrived back in San Juan around 5:00 and went to El Timon for sunset where we enjoyed Tostones, ceviche, chicken wings and other seafood to wrap up our ocean day. We sent the girls off with big smiles and warm, salty hearts. Big thanks to the crew and staff of the ‘Must Be Crazy’, for adding yet another epic experience to our Camp Bella memories, we look forward to many more!
