This week at Chica Brava, we had two determined best friends from Houston, who (no joke) met on an Aerosmith fan page years ago! Chatting for years and learning they shared the same passion for the ocean and waves, they were ready and stoked to create new memories surfing in Nicaragua. Janice, is a Chica Brava alumni from April of this year, ready to get “back in the saddle”, and Julie, having some experience, came to improve skills and charge waves!

Janice and Julie, who now are two of the consistent women surfers in Texas, came to Chica Brava with the goal to enhance their surfing skills and left with so much more. Janice’s initial goal was to improve her wave selection and be quicker when turning down the line – by the middle of the week, she was cruising down the line in such style at Playa Hermosa and Playa Maderas and had a memorable epic right at Playa Yankee! Julie’s initial goal was to work on her pop up consistency and increase the strength in her paddle. Within the first couple of days, Julie was not only able to choose and paddle into her own waves, but she was turning down the line with ease and style. These two chicas are surely antsy for the next swell to hit Texas so they can show off their new moves back home. Check out their highlight waves and the fun they had in their week with Chica Brava!

It was a week full of waves, waves and waves… And oh yea, singing with amigas in the car is always fun too! Not only did this dynamic duo have a blast surfing and learning new maneuvers, but they got to relax on a sailboat for a sunset cruise while creating new friends and celebrating the good times with old. These two chicas, “Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” and they accomplished just that.
