Feliz Año Nuevo de Chica Brava!!!

Whether you are young or old, live by the ocean or landlocked, are a water lover or want to overcome your fear, Chica Brava is an experience for anyone willing to give it a try. Get ready to extend your comfort zone, whether that may be charging the waves around San Juan del Sur, practising Spanish or experiencing Central America for the first time. Anything is possible and that is what our women this week found out right from day one.

The Brave Women

Catching her own waves on the first day, Casey was a wave riding queen. Mastering the pop-up with incredible balance she had us all cheering her on while showing the rest of the group how its done.

With the biggest smile and hilarious laugh, Mia did not wipe that smile off her face all week. Riding down the line and grasping timing with the waves, Mia had a stellar week!

With an adventurous spirit and always ready for a bit of something different, Gina epitomises our Chica Brava.  Never giving up and always with a positive attitude, those fist pumps became a wonderfully common occurance and spread the surf stoke through all the women at camp this week. 1695_10153725117373726_3631672247914732195_n

Endless enthusiasm and fun times were always to be had out in the water with Jodee. Perfect surf posture when those knees were bent, that surf stoke was sky high and oh so fly!

Lennay, one lovely lady who found her love for surfing and never let a wave out of her grasp. Lennay became our wave machine, catching waves from behind she would ride past us with style and speed.

Swiss wants to dance! Our sweet swiss girl, Olivia, had a knack for riding down the line and dropping some mint beats. Paddling into some steep waves during the week, she made it look too easy!

Aimee, this two shoe girl, really got into her groove this week enjoying all aspects of camp. Loving those rights and conquering the lefts, Aimee had that go-getter attitude right from the outset. Thanks for reminding us to be grateful everyday chica!

Vivacious and always ready for a laugh, Rachel’s breakthrough occurred at Hermosa and had her on cloud nine for the rest of the week. With both birthday celebrations and bringing in the new year in style, Rach what a week!

With determination and guts Alissa was constantly gunning for more waves, always ready and willing! Riding down the line put that smile on her dial, and girl you got it.

Our Surf Mantra

Empowering women is our central goal here at Chica Brava and this occurs numerous times throughout the week. None more so than being in the water surrounded by new friends, paddling into a wave and riding it all the way into the beach. The stoke this creates is unparalleled and why so many of us fall further in love with the ocean. Surfing also parallels life in many ways and there are particular life lessons that reverberated stongly with our ladies this week.

1. LET IT GO
Let it go and surrender to the waves. The ocean is unpredictable so we must adapt to the conditions and ride the best that we can with what we are given. To let go of the things that we have no control over is a freeing aspect in our lives and by letting go, it enables us to ride through the hard times.

2. LOOK UP
Look up and be confident in yourself.
For the women here at Chica Brava, you are in Nicaragua, learning how to ride the waves on offer, that in itself is an incredible experience. So always believe and trust in yourself. You’re worth it!

3. VISUALISE
Positive visualisation. Visualising what it is that you desire to achieve will help to manifest that in your life. Visualise paddling into the wave and riding it to the beach, as this creates good vibes and self-encouragement when out in the line up.

4. GRATEFULNESS
Being grateful for the little things in life is important and helps to realise how blessed we truly are. If it is a tough day out in the water simply take a look around…

So much love to our wonderful surfistas, we are so grateful to have been able to spend an entire week with you, bringing in the new possibilities that 2016 holds in store for each one of you. And just remember, don’t ever forget to surf!

S – Set free your dreams
