Last week Chica Brava hosted 10 ladies at surf house in San Juan del Sur.

Cynthia our doctor from Idaho already had some surfing experience and decided that it was time to dive in the clear waters of Nicaragua to define her skills. Her girlfriends and partners in crime Anne, Holly, Susie, Margaret and Lory accompanied her on this mission, not only to gain their first surfing experiences in Nicaragua but also to spend some quality time together.

Dena from New York never surfed before and wanted to escape the concrete jungle for a week to give it a try.

San Fran girl Carly, joined our Chica Brava surf retreat to gain her first surfing experience.

Lily from New York tried a little bit of surfing before and came to Nicaragua to make another attempt.

And Kateri our lovely chica from Colorado was enjoying her second week at Surf house to perfect the surfing skills she gained the week before during her first Chica Brava surf retreat.

On her first day Cynthia was paddling out to the line up to catch her own waves. Throughout the week she defined her wave reading skills and perfected her paddling as well as her positioning on the waves.

Anne, our other doctor, mastered her pop up on her first day and paddled out to the line up on the second day. During her surf retreat she surfed a lot of waves. Some of them she caught on her own and went down the line.

Also Holly perfected her pop up during the first day and started to paddle for her own waves on her second day. During the week there was some swell filling in and Holly dropped in on some bigger waves.

Margaret paddled out to the line up on her second day and throughout the week caught some of her waves on her own and got some nice “down-the-line” rides.

Susie and her board Takayama met each other mid-week and it was love at first sight. By the end of the week she was cruise on some really nice rides in the Bay of San Juan del Sur.

Lori does some surfing back home in the frigid waters of Canada, but cam here to warm up. She paddled for her own waves on her second day and kept on charging the whole week. On her last day she switched from a 9 ft board to a 7’4 and got some fun waves in the Bay.

Dena joined the other ladies in the line up on her second day. During her surf retreat she was mastering her pop up and defining her paddling, so on her last day she caught her very own waves.

Carly was practicing her pop up first two days in the whitewater and started to ride some green waves on her third day. During her stay she dropped in on some fun and also very steep waves.

Lily mastered the pop up on her very first day and paddled out to the line up to catch some awesome green waves on her second day. Awesome job Lily!

Kateri was working hard this week to perfect her skills. Throughout the week her paddling got significantly stronger and more precise and her wave reading ability improved. During her second surf week she went down the line on a lot of waves.

Our ladies surfed in Playa Remanso and in the Bay of San Juan del Sur. Besides that we enjoyed an amazing trip on the catamaran to Playa Blanca. On our way back some of us got to see dolphins and all of us were enchanted by the beautiful sunset. Some of our chicas did a horseback ride in the jungle of cloud farm and a canopy tour. At cultural night, hosted by the best restaurant in town El Timon, our ladies demonstrated their dancing skills and perfected their salsa steps.

During the restorative yoga sessions everybody could stretch some sore muscles and our chicas got some heavenly massages after charging waves throughout the week. One of my favorite moments though was when it started to rain during one of our surf session and all of us raised our arms up to the sky cheering and praising the beauty of the very moment. Everywhere we went we got accompanied by butterflies, Toñas and gelado!

Thanks Ladies for one unforgettable week. I hope there will be a reunion!
