What a beautiful week we had up in Cloud Farm (“Finca las Nubes” in spanish)! It’s our other retreat location up on the side of a mountain overlooking the bay and the town of San Juan Del Sur. Four chicas arrived on Saturday, March 4th for a week of sunshine, surf, yoga, peace, relaxation, pool time, and adventures through the town.

This week started in Playa Maderas where all of the girls were popping up and working on their form, one was even already on the outside! We ventured onto Playa Hermosa, where we had a beautiful tiki hut lounge as well as a barren long stretch of coastline to ourselves! Playa Remanso was good to us too! The ladies all were on the outside by the end of the week as well as enjoying their beach days with some boogie boards, beach walks, smoothies, and tonas. We saw lots of wildlife and animals like monkeys in the late-flowering trees, cows, goats, horses, pelicans, some cool insects like praying mantis and stick bugs, and even a puffer fish.

The girls took a catamaran trip with Nica Sail and Surf to Playa Blanco, a private little beach north of the San Juan Del Sur Bay, for a sunset tour, enjoyed a couple yoga classes in the sunshine right at the Cloud Farm house overlooking the valley, and a few girls even gave a Silk Aerials class a try with Momentum Collective, a contemporary circus collective and artist residence.

We took a boat surf trip to Playa Remanso and Hermosa, where we were picked up right in front of the surf house in town and jumped right off with our boards to paddle right into the lineup. We cruised along the southern playas, where you can see the Costa Rican mountains off in the distance, the sedimentary rock layers of the jagged bluffs, fisherman out on the jetties along the way fishing, and the lighthouse that sits on the hilltop directly to the south of the San Juan Del Sur Bay.

Lois, Vicky, and Abbie had began the week working on mastering their pop-ups —–> to paddling into waves, feeling more confident on the board, and having consistency in their form. Erina had been working on angling the board, taking off down the line, and getting through multiple sections on the wave. She will be staying with us at Cloud Farm for the next week and progressing even further!

I appreciate all of the heart-to-hearts, new friendships, inspirational women, and energy that flowed through the group this week. Wishing you ladies all of the love and surf in the future!

Adventure on!
