Our solo traveler this week, Natasha, came to Chica Brava from the D.C. area with the drive and ambition to increase her level of surfing, while setting specific missions throughout her trip. Mission number 1… travel Internationally solo while experiencing the Nicaraguan culture, check! Mission number 2… see a monkey, check! Mission number 3… catch some epic surf and meet some amazing friends along the way, CHECK!!!

Our week was filled with adventures, surfing and memories that will last a lifetime! Natasha was able to experience the Nicaraguan culture by getting to hang out with locals, surfing our best surf spots and even enjoying her first Vigaron, which is a known Nicaraguan dish consisted of pork, pickled cole slaw and yucca wrapped tightly in banana leaves. This quickly became our stop for a cost effective lunch on the go, where she ordered directly from a local street vendor! Natasha also got to experience a spectacular view of the five bays of San Juan del Sur at the new Adventure Park, while learning about Nicaragua’s local trees and botanical life through the walking trail – which then lead us to the Iguana-tarium where they placed a baby Iguana on my head!

Natasha was also able to fulfill her childhood dream of seeing a monkey, which she did when we were leaving Playa Remanso and high in the trees at the Adventure Park, but as an added perk she actually got to hold and play with one of our instructor’s baby spider monkey, Momo! Check out Natasha’s video of her highlights and surf time with Chica Brava!

Natasha got to end her week with a great morning surf session, some town time and a wonderful sunset cruise to finalize the evening. What an amazing week and journey for Natasha and our Chica Brava team!
