This week Surf House chicas really knew how to relax – and took their down time serious, when they weren’t surfing. Surfing was the main agenda with the week filled with dawn patrols and sunset surfs, so they needed the rest whenever they had it! We surfed a variety of beaches including Playa Yankee, Playa Madera, and Playa Hermosa. All which showed their own challenges and triumphs for the girls.

The ladies came from all over the world and the United States. Three of the girls joined us from California, Alice, Casey and Shira. Alice is professional chef in San Francisco, and had a little bit of surfing experience. She began the week with a great pop-up, and by day two was going down the line. Check out her video on her experience and her highlight of going down the line!

Casey, our other lady from the West Coast, came with similar experience to Alice, and by weeks end was pumping down the line at Playa Yankee. Shira, from Venice Beach, stayed for another week at Chica Brava to enhance her surfing even further! An avid surfer back home and now here in Nicaragua, she was surfing right with the locals and soon got into the swing of things here, while not letting a wave pass her by. With the initial goal to pump down the line, she ended the week with not just pumping down the line, but beginning advanced maneuvers! Progressive surfing by day and enjoying eating at the chicken lady by night, Shira was loving life here and we loved having her for two weeks in a row!

Emmy, our Chica Brava from Sweden, started the week with zero surfing experience, but had a solid pop-up after the first hour of surfing! Last but not least is Jacqueline, a student living in Pennsylvania, but with the mentality of a Florida girl! She had some surf experience before coming to Chica Brava, as she took lessons in New Smyrna Beach, FL –  which is our Camp Operations Manager’s home town! She quickly picked up the surfing stoke and looked like a natural. Jacqueline, joined in for a week 2, this time at the Cloud Farm, so she is practicing even MORE surfing and enjoying the views and complete relaxation right now!

This group of ladies really enjoyed going out for cocktails on the town and fully emerged themselves in the local food scene. The Chicken Lady (a street barbecue restaurant), was definitely the group favorite, along with tacos from Republika, and a local favorite – vigaron! While not engaging in all activities available cause we were surfing so much, we did squeeze in time to view the bays from Parque de Adventura and gazed upon the breathtaking view of Ometepe.

All of the chicas shared a special bond this week, which included exchanging of friendship bracelets with all chicas, including instructors (thanks chicas)! This week was ‘tranquilo’, but filled with many moments of laughter and a lot of surfing! Keep the surf stoke alive and come back to visit Chica Brava!
