We are continually impressed each week with the beauty of the universe and its incredible ability to draw women from across the globe to find each other, here, surfing in Nicaragua. Morning nature walks through the lush trails of Finca Las Nubes, great surf, afternoon pool parties, and movie nights are just a few activities that sparked lasting friendships at this week’s camp held at the Cloud Farm, where we hosted twelve lovely ladies from all across the United States.

We set up camp at two different houses, and took the Cloud Farm over! We spent many a meal together, did group yoga, and surfed together as well. While each house developed it’s own unique personality, the entire group managed to conquer some tough surf goals, laugh uncontrollably, and make the most of their stay! Here’s a little insight from the wonderful host-instructors of the week…

Casa Villa Hermosa, with Kellyanne!
Friends Ashley and Bethany… those scrappy girls from Connecticut… brought constant laughter to our days. Befriending the beach dog ‘Maurice’ – he’s been begging for your return Ash, I’m thinking he wants a few more tortillas, to conquering surfing off the boat at Remanso, and making black eyes SO FETCH! It’s a thing…

Jackie came to us with a vision- a surf dance that has been playing through her mind. She has so much experience as an incredibly skilled backcountry snowboarder…. telling us stories about chasing powder that would sink you as deep as your shoulders up mountains in the middle of the night!! This week was all about building a solid foundation in order to bring her surf dreams to life…. enough with the powder…now she can confidently chase huge waves on any beach of her choosing! Check out Jackie’s video on her experience and how she is a “badass chica”!!

Heather and Victoria were a perfect match as roomies this week and quickly became fast friends. Vicki kept us rocking with that country twang on the way to the surf each day- thanks for that chica! Heather charged like a ninja in her all black G-Bomb … which was totally THE BOMB!

And Patty… oh Patty what are you DOING? Thank you for bringing lightness to the dynamic and reminding us all that surfing is about a solid connection with your surroundings. Finding appreciation not only in the rush of riding great waves, but also in the quiet moments between sets.

Casa Bella with Lauren!
Two pairs of moms and daughters along with two solo travelers made up the team at Casa Bella of Cloud Farm this past week.  Karen and Mia, from Delaware, continue their surf adventures after having surfed in Costa Rica just this past May to get better and enjoy watching each other in the waves. Sarah and Rebecca traveled from central California to learn how to turn and read waves so they could go back home and surf together.  Another Californian, Sarah W, also learned how to turn and read waves, and improved her pop-up Chica Brava style.  Kristina left the onshore and flat Atlantic of south Florida, to surf offshore Nicaragua at a range of different beaches around San Juan del Sur and improved her turns and take offs, setting up for future barrels with some epic go pro footage.

Team Casa Bella started out the week surfing with all the chicas of Casa Hermosa at Eskameca. We discovered Trits- a very special ice-cream sandwich from Costa Rica and had to have one after each day’s surf sessions. As the week neared the end, everyone was surfing together on the outside at Remanso. On Friday night we celebrated Sarah’s birthday with a tasty tres leches cake and a night of bar hoping starting at San Juan del Sur’s new Cerveceria.

When Saturday morning came around it was hard to believe it was time to send the crew off in their various directions, but comforting to know that they were leaving with some mad surf skills, new friendships, and epic memories. Until next time, ladies! And meanwhile, remember to keep those ankles crossed….
