With consistent waves and offshore winds, this week at Surf House had amazing surf conditions for our seven Chica Bravas. With early morning and afternoon sessions and plenty of other activities, it was an overall great week!

Culture was not something this group lacked this week, as the Chica Bravas were from all over the world! Jessica was from New York City and came to conquer her fear of the ocean and try surfing for the first time. By the end of the week, she was catching her own waves and riding them all the way to the beach! Kat came to Chica Brava with previous surfing experience and it totally showed in the water! She made quick progression through the week and by the end, she was choosing her own left and rights, riding the wave all the way to the beach! Amy from England, who currently lives in Sydney, had lots of common ground with instructor Naomi, who is also from the UK. With sharing the same sense of humor, the week was full of laughter and mutual understanding of all the jokes! Amy’s initial goal was to surf the outside, and she progressed quickly and even attended her first dawn patrol.

Catherine and Barbara are two sisters traveling together and always looking for a fun adventure. They try to go on a surf trip to Costa Rica yearly, but thought a new adventure to Nicaragua was in order. Their goal was to master the pop up and to ride their own waves by the end of the week. It was amazing how these girls not only caught their own waves on day one, but they were charging on the biggest set waves coming in. Keep up the good work girls and keep practicing that Español! We also had two best friends join us all the way from DC, Natalya and Yuri. They surfed together, hung out together and even got to enjoy the local culture together… what more could you ask for? Natalya and Yuri showed a lot of progression throughout the week as they started off on the inside, then gained confidence and began to catch their own waves from the outside! Check out the video blog of the besties’ and how their trip to Chica Brava empowered them!

On Sunday, the ladies cruised through the Pacific Ocean on the beautiful Pelican Eyes sailboat and witnessed first hand the pink and purple hued Nicaraguan sunset. As a special treat, they woke up Monday at 5am to watch the sunrise over the hills at Playa Maderas while surfing the fun morning waves. They also enjoyed a little yoga to stretch those tired muscles out and had a one on one Bachata lessons from Yuri! This was truly an amazing week here at Chica Brava with hot sand starfishes, fun car rides, interesting conversations, beautiful weather and perfect waves! Come back soon CHICAs.
