Anyone who studied Philosophy remembers the “Hierarchy of Needs” and the concept of self-esteem from Abraham Maslow. He defined how our self-esteem includes not only a sense of achievement and sense of worth, but also a high level of confidence.

What does this mean? In my point of view, being confident is related to simply believing in yourself and in your abilities, and trying to live a life to the fullest. Don’t get me wrong, it doesn’t mean that self-confident people do not have fears, but they somehow face their fears in their heads – tending to be risk takers. No matter what obstacles they find along their way, they know that by counting on themselves, they can overcome anything.

How can you increase your self-confidence? Try to do a SOLO TRIP! At that moment, you face the fear to travel alone, you take the risk to find discomfort and unknown situations but somehow you also accept the danger to share common moments with new people that will reveal amazing, awesome and empowering parts of your soul.

There is even an Italian travel blogger called Francesca di Pietro that wrote a book about the link between the psychology and travel called Travel Coaching: “Viaggiare da soli”. Italian readers take a look!

Here is my personal Chica Brava trip and experience as well as my solo trip into this big family which has made me stronger and much more confident.

1. I faced the fear of the unknown. The result? Look at this! Is it not worth all the fear?

2. Yes. I took the risk. I left everything back home: a safe and unfulfilling job, the sweetest and most loving family and super cool friends. But I needed it, to discovered myself, my priorities, my weakness.

3. Count on your abilities. So many times, I felt myself alone, totally alone. But somehow I knew that I could always count on my mind, my heart and my values. If you link this certainty to your soul you can face any sort of problem …. also thanks to the help of amazing surfers I have met along the way ????!

So, in the end, what did I gain travelling alone in a progressing Latin country? I learned surfing, I learned a third language, I met inspiring and empowering people from all over the world, I watched incredible sunsets, rode speechless waves, cried and laughed so hard that all the sounds went to the moon and back. And do you know what…. I did all of this thanks to myself.

TRAVEL, DREAM and BELIEVE IN EVERY SINGLE PART OF YOURSELF.
