Traveling solo as a woman can be a little intimidating, but also the most powerful learning and beautiful experience. Here is my list of the Top 10 travel essentials to make your time on the road a breeze.

Sunblock

This is a no-brainer, always take care of your skin while adventuring on those sunny days! No matter whether you’re out on the water, or exploring the local area, it’s important to put on 30+ SPF sunblock at all times, and be sure to reapply a few times a day to ensure you’re not missing any spots. Your skin will thank you!

Menstrual Cup

This female hygiene product is super convenient while traveling, besides having multiple benefits for you and the environment you will not have to worry for buying any more menstrual products that can be really expensive in other countries or sometimes even really hard to find if you are in a remote area.

Quick-Dry Towels

Don’t wait for hours to have your towel dry, or have to attempt to dry off with a soggy towel (ugh!). With a quick-dry towel, you can have it ready for whenever you need it!

Water Bottle with Filter or Filtered Straw

When you are unsure of the water quality where you are traveling, having this is a must to have peace of mind while staying hydrated. This can also help you avoid getting sick due to your body not being used to the local water.

Whistle

In case of an emergency, whether out in the water or on land, it’s good to keep a whistle on a lanyard around your neck in case you need to get someone’s attention quickly.

Pepper Spray

Always stay vigilant, especially if you are a solo female traveler. This is a good precaution to keep with you in case you need it in a dangerous situation. Be sure to look up the local laws of where you’re traveling to ensure that it is, in fact, legal to carry pepper spray.

Mosquito Repellent

Mosquitos are never fun, and being covered in red, itchy bites isn’t a good look in a bikini! Mosquito repellent is a lifesaver when hanging out outdoors, especially during peak buggy times like in the evenings.

Plug Converter/Adapter

If you’re traveling overseas, it’s a good idea to check what type of plugs they use there, and then purchase a compatible plug converter to make sure your electronics stay fully-charged!

A Variety of Footwear

There’s nothing worse than being caught without the right shoes. Whether you need hiking shoes, flip-flops, water shoes, or even fancier shoes, be sure to review your itinerary carefully so that you are able to bring all the necessary footwear with you! Trying to do long walks/hikes in flip-flops can result in annoyances like blisters or poison ivy!

Rechargeable Battery

This is a lifesaver to have, no matter whether you’re traveling or not! This awesome gadget is small, lightweight, and can oftentimes provide you with a full charge on your electronics without the use of an outlet. This is great to have during those long adventuring days, or on days where you aren’t around any outlet ports.
