What’s Stopping you From Surfing?
If she can do it, so can I! If he can do it, well I can do it too! If a dog can…wait a dog? Surfing, the sport loved by all, even dogs! If a dog can surf so can you! Having doubts about stepping on the board for the first time, watch the video below!
Every year in Surf City, California the Petco Surf City Surf Dog Competition is held. Dogs and their owners surf the waves and compete in different categories including a tandem heat (owners surf with their dogs). Some of the dogs have ‘trained’ for months while others are still new to the circuit. The point of the competition is to have fun and to raise money and awareness for a variety of charities around the city.
The dogs are pushed into waves by their owners and cruise down the line. While most ride the wave to the beach, there are some epic wipeouts. The most encouraging thing about this is, they hop back onto to the board for another ride. Human or dog we can all learn something from this, anybody can learn to surf. Every wipeout is a learning opportunity.
