From surfing to learning spanish, our guide will help you decide on what to do. Here are the top ten things to do in San Juan del Sur.
1. First, immerse yourself in the culture and learn spanish with Spanish Ya. If you are planning on going surfing, learn some surf lingo and chat up the locals in the line-up!
2. After your spanish lesson, head on over to the beach or participate in a week-long surf camp at Chica Brava! The best beach to relax, surf, and watch the sunset is Playa Hermosa.
3. There are no lack of locations to watch the sunset in San Juan del Sur. Restaurant El Timon is a Chica Brava favorite and an amazing place to watch the sunset on the bay. Grab yourself a piña colada and watch the sun go down.
4. Another place to watch the sunset in San Juan del Sur, is on the infamous ‘Must B Crazy’ catamaran with Nica Sail n’ Surf! Sail to a private beach, eat amazing ceviche, and watch the stunning sunset.
5. While the sunset is amazing in San Juan del Sur, so is the food! There is no lack of restaurants here in our pueblo. El Gato Negro is an awesome book store with amazing coffee and sandwiches. Stop in and try The Chicabrava bagel!
6. After you have filled up with some grub, fly thru the jungle with Da’ Flying Frog Canopy Tour. Zip thru the canopy right outside of San Juan del Sur and see tons of different animals!
7. Once you have flown thru the jungle, take a tour by horse with Rancho Chilamate. Suit up in their cowboy gear, take a shot of Flor de Caña (Nicaragua’s local rum), and gallop into the sunset.
8. After all your adventures, check out Pelican Eyes cultural night! Every Wednesday is Nica Night with traditional dancing and a Caballo Bayo dinner (buffet style, dinner with traditional Nicaraguan cuisine)
9. Get your yoga on at Zen Yoga Nicaragua! While your there grab a smoothie next door at Buddha’s Garden Cafe, and wait for your massage in the beautiful garden.
10. Last but certainly not least, end your vacation with an afternoon volunteering with Escuela Adelante! This unique bilingual after school program gives kids the opportunity to participate in an amazing learning experience.
