This past week at Chica Brava’s Surfhouse, we had the chance to welcome 11 amazing chicas.
At the beginning of the week, Stephanie the Lead Surf Instructor divided the surfers in 3 different groups: The Stars, The Hearts & The Diamonds!
The Stars: Jenae, Jennifer, Judith and Sarah
Most of these guests have taken a single lesson before or even were at their first experience! Starting in the white water and mastering the popup, making it to the outside catching some open waves on their own at the end of the week.
The Hearts: Charmane, Lyndsay, Stephanie and Emily
We welcomed Charmane & Lyndsay for their fifth time at Chica Brava! All guests in this group have surfed before, and were ready to go on the outside by day 1. Throughout the week, everyone’s technique reached an other level and their confidence built up!
The Diamonds: Alexa, Hannah and Vanessa
Hannah was definitely a surprise for all of us, never ever surfed but figured it out within the first session! Alexa and Vanessa were already super confortable in the water, but by pushing these intermediate chicas to achieve more, they stepped their game up. All of these guests were riding down the line, surfer emoji style!
We all started of the week on a good foot surfing beautiful Remanso. Believe it or not, we had breakfast at 5 am and we were all in the water before sunrise. The morning light was pretty and motivated us to all to go catch the best waves out there. Later on that Monday night, we went to El Timon, one of our favorite restaurants in town to enjoy sunset (& our Chica Brava menu). It was Vanessa’s birthday and the whole restaurant crew came to sing Happy birthday in Spanish shaking maracas and bringing cake to our table! By Tuesday, we had to review everyone’s goal since they all improved so much! With our new objectives in mind, we were ready to go surfing another epic beach; Playa Hermosa. Not only it’s super cozy with all the new facilities from the ecolodge, it’s also a wide open beach with an empty line up. All of these waves to ourselves? Tell me about it! That’s why we stayed for both Tuesday and Wednesday. This day has been a real turning point in everyone’s surfing. All of the 11 girls were on the outside and rode beautiful waves! We had a lot of fun, especially when a big school of fish jumping out of the water came by us and Emily started to paddle for her life away from them haha! Then our fisherwoman Alexa informed us on the type of fish and we were happy to know we encountered a Roosterfish in that school. On the following day, we went back to Remanso for a quick hour session. Why that? Because we had a mission in the afternoon. Yup, an open bar catamaran cruise to one of the most beautiful beaches of Nicaragua! We left the dock at 1am, the sun was shining bright and the water was crazy clear, we enjoyed some Mai tai as we were getting tanned on the trampoline net trying to get rid of the rashguard tan lines! Ah life is beautiful on the water. Then we got to amazing Playa Blanca, we jumped off the boat and swam to the shore. The private beach offered us many ways to enjoy it. Some of us decided to collect impressive shells, some did a gymnastic contest, while some others were playing in the ocean. I’m never going to forget this beautiful afternoon sailing the Nicaraguan waters. Last but not the least, Friday has been a Funday for all of us. We enjoyed our last session together and caught as many waves possible. It was definitely a Chica Brava style afternoon all cheering for our peers in the water. Not only everyone’s surfing reached an other level but everyone’s heart expanded getting to know beautiful people. Started as strangers, we left as sea sisters.
Thanks to all the legend part of this week, until we meet again!
